Resenha: Mood Swing – Endless Cycle [Demo]

O movimento Straight Edge teve inicio na decada de 80 com a banda Minor Threat, e logo depois ganhou impulso em Boston com SSD, Negative FX, Gang Green. Este legado continua vivo até hoje, e muito mais forte e disseminado pelo mundo todo, uma prova disso é Mood Swing.

Banda oriunda de Sydney (Austrália, a terra dos cangurus) tem a influência do Hardcore Straight Edge dos anos 90, riffs pesados, vocal gritado, coros em algumas frases. E foi com essas influências que em Abril de 2013 lançaram a demo “Endlees Cycle”.

Abrindo o disco com força total vem a faixa intitulada “Server”, e logo em seguida “Wake Up”, na pegada do Positive Mental Atittude vem os versos:

Na sequência “Fi the Mould” continuando a agitação e a pegada crua clássica do Straight Edge. “Repeat” fala sobre o ciclo vicioso que a vida nos impõe, logo abaixo os versos:

Try and keep me stable, maintain sanity

E sem dar chances para descanso vem “Guilt”, na pegada rápida até chegar o refrão, dando uma quebrada mas mesmo assim sem perder a potência. E as duas músicas que fecham a demo “The Bottom Rung” e “Crush” seguem na mesma cadencia do disco todo. Destaque para as músicas “Wake Up” e “Fit the Mould”.

E com o final da audição deste disqueto, chego a conclusão que o Sydney Stile está bem representado com esta demo de peso.
