Resenha: Chained Down – Crossroads

Apesar de o punk estar associado, para a maioria das pessoas, ao aspecto “sujo”, bêbado, drogado, sem banho. Há o lado face limpa, chamado de Straight Edge. Iniciado com bandas como Teen Idles, Minor Threat, SDD e depois ganhado impulso com as bandas Youth Crew, o estilo permanece vivo e, diga-se de passagem, ainda mais forte. Chained Down é uma das bandas que ajuda o estilo se perpetuar. De Salt Lake City, (Utah/EUA) apresentam em 2014 o EP “Crossroads”.

Abrindo o disco com força total, “Doubt” tem tudo o que o estilo demanda. Guitarras pesadas, bateria rápida, baixo distorcido, vocal gritado, paradas, breakdown e tudo o mais.

“Sham Life” começa rápida e sem introdução, com o vocalista já mandando o verbo. “Sell me out/Just to get ahead/You're just as real/As the words you said/Trying to please everyone you meet/I'm not going to fall/For your deceit/Going on about your so called life/You can't fool me/I know what's right/The time will come/When you will see/You're living a sham/And the truth will set you free/Set you free”. E no meio da faixa há as famosas pausas para o 2step que os amantes do gênero tanto amam.

A guitarra em cavalgada chama a faixa “Impact”. Com uma pegada até meio Thrash Metal a musica tem grandes chances de ser o destaque do disco. Não só pelo som, mas pela letra:

“Vile” é introduzida pelo contra baixo, logo dá espaço para todo o instrumental, para depois retornar a ser o coadjuvante dando tom para o vocal. Esta faixa tem uma pegada mais lenta que as demais do disco, mas não por isso se torna menos legal, tendo seu valor para o registro.

Emendada com “Vile”, “Identity”, é introduzida por um baixo rápido, sendo seguido da mesma forma pela guitarra e bateria. A faixa só dá uma parada para um refrão e um breakdown. Outro fato que destaca “Identity” é a letra antidrogas e siga de cara limpa:

Na pegada rápida vem “Strenght Within”, com outra boa letra:

Continuando a pedrada “Set Aside” vem com a guitarra dando o tom, mas em pouquíssimo tempo já vem o conjunto inteiro. Legal quando fica só a bateria e vocal. Mais uma faixa boa e que você por horas se pega cantando junto. E o melhor, no final tem coro, o que nos ajuda a decorar as letras. “Set aside/Our differences/We're all in this together/Hardcore lives/Wave your colors/Be who you are in inside/Show me some more of that/Hardcore pride”

E para fechar com chave de ouro, “Held back” vem rápida e com direito a todos os artifícios do gênero, 2 step, breakdown, bateria rápida, coro e etc.

Conclusão. 8 faixas, 13 minutos de puro Hardcore. Letras ótimas, com pegada de Positive Hardcore. Disco pra se escutar a qualquer hora do dia.
